If Kenya isn’t on your bucket list of countries to visit, I’ll say add it and do it quickly. Not because it’s on mine but because this country has one of the best wildlife, and safari centers are ever known to mankind, and natural, architectural, and cultural scenic views to offer. I had an 8-hour layover here and I ticked 3 out of 9 things one can do while visiting. Read more about what I did and what you can do here

Visa Collection

Kenyan visas are usually issued upon arrival at international ports of entry. However, Kenyan Immigration’s new policy expects visitors to obtain their visas online.

Once the application process is concluded, if the visa request is approved,  the visa will be sent to your email where you can download and print it.

The processing time for a Kenyan visa is two (2) business days but better to apply at least seven (7) days ahead.

Getting a Kenyan eVisa doesn’t guarantee your entry into the country. If you do not meet immigration requirements, you will be denied access to the country.

Best Way to Get to Kenya from Lagos

Kenya Airways is an easy option for Nigerians traveling from Lagos to Kenya. Other options are Asky Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, and Rwandair Express. Kenya Airways is the fastest for obvious reasons.

Book Fun Activities in Kenya

I had a long layover in Nairobi some time ago and I ordered an uber and visited different tourist sites myself. The activities are much cheaper when you plan it yourself than what I see offered by tour operators. If you want to plan your own activities, click here to see my post about it. If you don’t want the hassle, see below.

My No 1 Safety Tip for Travel

Always travel with travel insurance. I was robbed during one of my trips in Thailand and that almost ruined the entire trip.

There are some local travel insurance companies in Nigeria like AXA Mansard and Allianz Nigeria. I prefer to use international insurance companies in order to receive the same dollar value of the loss because the local companies reimburse in Naira, which is not so great with the ever-fluctuating currency.

My current preferred option is SafetyWings
