Need some information on the visa process to Cape Verde for Nigerian passport holders or from a different country? Read below.

Cape Verde also known as Cabo Verde and officially known as the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an archipelago and small island country made up of 10 islands. Cape Verde is off the western coast of Senegal in the Atlantic Ocean and is a west African country.

The country is divided into two parts: The North and South islands. Praia is the island country’s capital and largest city with an area of 102.6 km2. With a unique blend of African and European heritage, Cape Verde offers rich cultural diversity. The country’s main tourist destination is its beautiful beaches, which are home to a number of endemic species including the white sand beaches, coral reefs, and mangroves.

Do Nigerians Need a Visa to Visit Cape Verde?

No, Nigerians do not need to apply for a Cape Verde visa. Cape Verde and Nigeria are member countries in the ECOWAS agreement, thus exempting Nigerians from going through a long visa application process. However, Nigerians, along with 61 other nationalities, need to apply online for a pre-registration form called the EASE form.

Preregister online at least 5 days before your trip via the EASE online pre-registration form.

What is the EASE Online Pre-Registration Form?

The EASE online pre-registration form is a type of e-visa that is compulsory for visitors over two years old from any of the 61 countries that are exempt from the official visa process. Cape Verde’s mandatory airport security fee is included in the fee of the EASE online pre-registration form.

This form allows you to arrive at any of the four international airports in Cape Verde below;

  • Sal
  • Boa Viita
  • Soa Vicente
  • Praia.

note: some online sources have stated that Nigerians are having a bit of difficulty with getting the EASE form approved using the official link provided above. If you did not have a problem with the process, please let us know in the comments.

Best Ways to Fly to Cape Verde

Direct flights to Cape Verde are no longer available and flights from Nigeria require multiple stops.

The fastest and easiest way to get to Cape Verde is by flying from Lagos to Praia, Cape Verde with Asky with only 1 stop in Lome, and to arrive in less than 9 hours. If you plan to visit other islands in the country,

Another option is to fly with Air Peace from Lagos to Dakar, then book a flight to Praia.

To visit other islands in the country, the easiest way is to fly from Praia to other islands or get a ferry. Do note that ferries are delayed quite often, and it is more reliable to fly across.

For travelers not flying from Lagos, see below.

My No 1 Safety Tip for Travel

There are some local travel insurance companies in Nigeria like AXA Mansard and Allianz Nigeria. I prefer to use international insurance companies in order to receive the same dollar value of the loss because the local companies reimburse in Naira, which is not so great with the ever-fluctuating currency.

My current preferred option is SafetyWings which goes as low as $11.27 for a 7 days trip when you visit any country but USA, which attracts a higher fee.

    Hi
I wish to enquire if a medical doctor or dentist from any ECOWAS country can be offered a work permit to work in Cape Verde?

    • Hello Felix, I currently only help with tourist visa information and don’t have information on what is needed to work in Cape Verde. Try visiting their official government website for more information. Good luck!
