About a month ago, a friend had the brilliant idea to spend valentine’s weekend at his home in Ibadan + a day trip to Olumirin Waterfalls in Erin Ijesha, Osun state. 13 of us immediately jumped on board the idea, and thus the dream team was born.

It really is not so easy to travel with 12 other personality types, but with this awesome group of people, we had a constant supply of good times.

The next day, 14 of us (driver included) took the longest possible route to Osun state.
Google maps lied to us, and it took us 2 hours just to get out of Ibadan (it should have taken only 15 minutes!) At least, we got to see the a different side of Ibadan than we never dreamed of seeing sha.
So…we didn’t really do any research on Olumirin Waterfalls, thus, we were not prepared for the hike! The waterfall itself was pretty lackluster, but but we made the best of it. Note to self, do not go to a waterfall during the dry season. We had fun climbing the steps and rocks sha.

The drive back was much shorter via a more direct route and we kept the mood alive with serious singing games :-). When we got to the house in Ibadan, hunger for correct food caught up to us and our mate got a restaurant, Jade’s (0818 626 2626), to bring Amala, Tuwo, Pomo, Fish, Grilled Chicken, Ewedu, Gbegiri, Stew, Fried Rice, and Jollof rice. I can proudly say that the way we descended on the Amala and Tuwo would have made our parents proud of us. The food experience was awesome and it made the trip experience even more special.
We do not know where to haul ourselves to next, but we are pretty confident that doing so as a group would be epic no matter how lackluster the destination may turn out to be.
A few months ago, we went to Ibadan for a wedding…the road trip itself was epic…clutch falling apart? check. Petrol don finish? check. Bus refused to start? check. We pretty much laughed at the whole thing and kept the fun going 😀
