Happy new year and how was the crossover into the new year for you?

Mine was awesome!

From spending time with friends at my home, to moving into the Intercontinental hotel for the long weekend to spend time with family, 2017 started off in a very pleasant way. Now that I am back at home and no longer in the bubble of room service to cater to my needs, it is time to start working towards a better 2017.

Happy, happy new year
My family right after praying into the new year

Where do I want to go this year? I don’t know! Ok, that is not true. I am simply afraid to think about it really because the thought of what the naira value is to a dollar gives me heart palpitations. Seriously.

Travelling with in Nigeria is semi affordable, so seeing the Northern parts of Nigeria is a biggie for me. I am not particularly fixated on just one state, as I recently just read about a few slow travel ideas online I would like to spend a couple of weeks roaming through different regions in the North.

I saw a bit of the SouthEastern region of Nigeria in 2016 and would like to see more of that this year too. Make better plans for it and experience more. My experiences within Yoruba land is surprisingly limited too…I want to explore what my culture has to offer in so many ways. I am actually getting excited by just writing this down!

Outside of Nigeria, my dear friend a made me promise to plan for a Cape Town trip this spring for her birthday, so South Africa will be re-visited. #oyvey

Fingers crossed on visiting Tanzania this spring, Italy in the summer, and New Zealand in fall (I still think in American seasons…can’t shake the habit).

Depending on how my workflow is this year, I will try to go off on long weekends to neighboring countries by road but over all, nothing is concrete. Most of the time, I end up accomplishing all that I set out to do and then some, so hopefully, 2017 would be a good year of travel and new experiences.

Cheers and let me know what you have in store for yourself too!

Happy, happy new year
