I decided to give Jumia Food another try today. The last time I used the service was 2 years ago; the restaurant delivered the food 3 hours late and by the time it arrived, I already ordered pizza and was finishing off the slices. I’m trying to stay away from pizza and I am currently on a self imposed ban from Chicken Republic, so I decided to finally try out Shawarma & Co. Worst decision ever. First of all, they sell Shawarma for N2,000! And here I was complaining to a friend about a N1,500 Shawarma last week!

2000 naira for a shawarma from shawarma & co?!

Luckily, it was black Friday weekend and they were offering a buy 1 wrap and get 1 free promo so I was able to rationalize the ridiculous price point. Someone commented in the review section that the Kefta wrap was amazing so I skipped from buying a Shawarma and got a kefta instead. My taste buds are currently pissed off. To be clear, kefta is a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern/Asian style of meatballs. I love kefta and because the restaurant is a Lebanese one, I expected better from them.

What was wrong with the wrap?

Pretty much everything. The meat was way too chewy and missed the mark in its flavour profile. My hunger was real and I had to keep drinking water to wash off the taste. The meat suffered from way too many spices overwhelming it that it became a mash of terribleness in one. Gah! A bit of fresh veggies would have gone a long way to helping this wrap be better. Never again. [rwp-review id=”0″]
