Just in case you didn’t know already, Ondo State is amazing for culture, food, and adventure travelers. From the amazing unique woven fabrics to hiking the majestic hills of Idanre Hills, there is so much to keep an adventure traveler’s appetite whet.
There are so many pictures and videos online showing off the beauty of Idanre Hills, but none of them capture the true essence of standing on one of the hills whilst surrounded by many sloping hills and the view of Idanre town peeking at the bottom from some angles. Make sure to visit with a local guide to get the full experience of Idanre Hills

There is so much to see in Ondo, and while Idanre Hills is absolutely worth the trip all on its own, please do not travel all the way to Ondo just to see Idanre Hills.
The state is so rich in the beauty it has to offer and the 3 nights we spent there allowed us to barely scratch the surface of what the rich state had to offer.
My visit to Ondo State had been a long time coming and my friend, Emeka, and I had been talking about going there for quite some time now but we kept putting it off. He randomly invited me and the same group that went to Delta State in November to tag along with him to Ondo. After a day of hemming and hawing, I booked my flight and as is usually the case with travel adventures, I am grateful that I said yes.
We had just 3 nights to spend in Ondo and it was not enough. We barely scratched the surface of what the state had to offer and I really can not wait to go back for an extended visit.
The large state is unlike any other in terms of having a large range of things to do. From the rich food culture to their own handwoven textile, scenic hiking paths, floating villages, varied types of palm wine, a long stretch of beach on the Atlantic, a bit of the ganja vibes, amazing nightlife, *deep breathe*, there is so much to do in Ondo. And don’t let me get started on the different Yoruba dialects there!
Enough of the texts, I’m a firm believer that sometimes, words are not enough, and seeing is believing. See my video highlight on why I will definitely say yes to visiting Ondo again.
