Killarney is like heaven for those that fully embrace the beauty of the outdoors. You could spend weeks here and keep finding beauties to constantly explore.
When I drove into Killarney, I had only one plan in mind, do the Carrauntoohil hike then be lazy for the remaining three nights I had to spare. The hostel I was staying at felt like home, so going out of the cozy hostel was very difficult. The minute I went off to explore the bits I could squeeze in, I became enamored by the vast beauty of nature surrounding Killarney.
I went on long windy drives on the ring of Kerry and I found myself parking on the side of the road to simply stop and stare. If I did not have to worry about my American Express’s ability to pay for my car’s petrol, I would driven the whole ring path (amex was rarely accepted at gas stations, it was a nightmare).
Killarney is simply beautiful and if you ever happen to be in Ireland, make sure to stop here for at least 3 nights. You also MUST stay at the Black Sheep Hostel. I could have comfortably spent my time in Killarney in doors at this hostel and had a fabulous time, but nature called ;).
Wonder what the ring of Kerry is? Check out my pictures, and I hope the little I captured of its beauty clarifies why I fell in love with Ireland.
