For those that like street food, Osaka’s Dontobori street, has a pretty okay variety to jump into. If you love Takoyaki (octopus with some ginger and spices stuffed in what looks like puff-puff), there are so many of them on Dontobori. I also went into a restaurant to try out Okonomiyaki (a local pancake like dish, mine was with cabbage pattie with minced pork, layered with egg and more pork).

In a way, Osaka is like a mini Tokyo but with all the night life spots within semi close distance. The clubs, anime/pachinko, restaurant/dontoburi, bars/karaoke, and shopping districts are within walking distance. So it’s pretty easy to hop around and not worry about cabbing it because the subway shuts down after 12am everywhere in Japan

Nudity Alert! Do not read below if sensitive to men and their booties hanging out…sumo style
Truly, with 2 nights in Osaka the number 1 thing on my agenda was getting to watch a Sumo wrestle. Many Nigerians at some point in time have made rude jokes about Yokozuna; “your mama fat ehn, she even fat pass Yokozuna.” Seriously. Yokozuna is actually the highest level reached by the Sumo wrestlers. A famous Samoan American WWF borrowed the name and used it as his stage name, thus the popularity of Yokozuna.
Anywho, when I initially made my booking for Osaka, I did not know that I would be arriving the night before Sumo season starts in Osaka. God was on my side and I got to experience something I never dreamed I would ever get to see. It was an amazing (sugoi!) one time experience for me. Met up with a couple of Brits that made the experience even more fun 🙂
After the wrestling show was over, we went off to enjoy Osaka’s nightlife at a few bars, pachinko spots, karaoke bar, and getting bounced at the club because someone decided to wear pajamas out (not me this time around. hehe).
Next town, over night at a temple in Koyasan, ummmhhhhhhh…
