I had only two full days to enjoy Dublin and my number one agenda was the Guinness experience center. Yup, I wanted to get my drink on :D. Prior to my Ireland trip, Guinness was ‘that’ heavy stout drink for serious beer drinkers and I was not keen on dipping my feet into that. But as someone that believes in experiencing as much as possible of what a country has to offer, going to Ireland and not drinking Guinness would have been ridiculous of me. From the first sip at a random bar in Dublin, my forray into the stout experience in Ireland started, and while I did not overindulge with my miserly budget, I did try a good number of brands all throughout my travel.

Luckily, I was able to get press access into the Guinness experience center with an addition of my own personal tour guide, Colm. He made the experience even more stellar. I am now very proud to say that I can pour a pint of Guinness from tap. Thank you very much!

Time was not on my side, I made an attempt to do a tour of Teeling whiskey distillery but they had the place booked for a large tour group and could not accommodate me. That also happened to be on my last day in the city, so all I could see was a small bit of the free entry area and goofed around a little with their cute bartenders. (look out for their pictures below!) Ah well, another time maybe?

Besides stout and whiskey tasting, I did a free walking tour of Dublin that was filled with not enough information, and felt like a waste of my time. We spent way too long covering a 5-10 minutes hiking distance, and talked about a max of 3 interesting facts of Dublin that was meh. It was free, so I shouldn’t fuss too much I guess. If you want to know more about Dublin, walk into a local pub and ask one of the friendly looking gents for his Dublin highlights, you would learn loads more and get to see the city from a much better perspective. The locals are friendly and are very keen on educating foreigners on their culture so go for it!

Unlike most of my travels through Ireland, I had a friend in Dublin that recently moved there from Lagos and her fab apartment was smack dab in the center of everything. My expense here was very, very minimal. All I really had to worry about was grub, and we also got to check the OktoberFest celebration. I legit still think about the delicious Bratwurst I ate there…so good! I wish I had done the greedy thing and ate more than the one I had. Where can we get any remotely similar in Lagos please? If you have the hookup, please help a sister out!

For those staying in the city, do not bother with the bus pass. I bought one and it was an absolute waste. I ended up walking everywhere because the time spent waiting for the bus equates to the time spent walking to the next hangout spot. I got the pass mainly for the shuttle from the airport to the city, but on the day to head back to the airport, the buses working that early in the morning do not accept the city bus until later in the day. I had zero cash on me, so I simply called an uber and got to the airport on time to enjoy the lounge and snooze a little before it was time to board the plane. Dublin was a blast but for those keen on seeing more of Ireland, 1 – 2 full days in the city is enough to see it all.
